Vintage Afghan seal originates from the Southeast Asian part of the subcontinent and the faith of Islam. Seals make up an important element in the manuscript and literary culture of the region.
They constitute a treasure trove of data that can throw light on important aspects of the history of the Old Afghan and Persian world, ranging from the nature of kingship, the administrative structure of states, the biographies of major personalities and the form of Islamic thought embraced, as well as on developments in the art and material culture of the region.
This particular seal is hand made and shows signs of age. The metal is brass. I have not used any ink on it to maintain the integrty for the buyer. IT can also be used as a paper weight.
